Christmas Sparkle Comes to Colyton

Christmas sparkle comes to Colyton

A big Christmas thankyou to the team working on a new development in the village of Colyton in Devon.

The village boasts a giant spruce tree, donated to a local ceramics factory by a firm in Germany 20 years ago. For more than a decade the seasonal lighting of the tree was an annual event and became a cherished tradition for villagers. But the ceremony ceased when the factory closed nine years ago and the site cleared.

The tree is now part of our development and with work well underway site manager Ben Trussler and his team decided to re-introduce the lights switch-on tradition and organised landscaping and a cascade of lights.

Local residents were also treated to mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and brownies ahead of the switch on count down.

South West regional sales director, Hannah Blackbourn said: “The tree lights switch-on was such an integral part of Colyton’s Christmas festivities and we wanted to rekindle this lovely tradition.

“The response from villagers was so positive with many coming along for the count down and everyone happy to see this magnificent tree once again sparkling for the festive season.”

The development, to be known as Maple Cross, will offer 72 new homes ranging from two bedrooms to five bedrooms in a carefully landscaped setting and will launch early in 2025.
