Being born and raised in Westward Ho!, Kate Rampling and her partner Aaron had their hearts set on buying their first home together in their home town.
And that dream became a reality when they collected the keys to a three-bedroom Baird home at Wain Homes’ Kingsland development, a move which reunited Kate with some former fellow schoolmates.
Kate explains: “I was living about half-a-mile away at my mum’s house and really wanted to stay in this area, as it’s so close to the beach, has some great coastal walks for our dog and is conveniently located for getting to work in Northam.
“Initially, we weren’t limiting our search to new-build homes but the energy efficiency of new homes quickly became apparent – even through the winter months we are only spending around £100 per month on gas and electric and the house warms up so fast and stays warm and cosy throughout the day. We only put the heating on for 30 minutes in the morning and the house is lovely and warm before you know it.
“We have been in our new home for around three months now and it’s perfect. It’s got lot’s of well-designed storage space, a lovely large lounge and, as it’s just the two of us, we can use one of the bedrooms as a dressing room, which adds a bit of luxury.
“And soon after moving in, we realised some people we knew from school have also become neighbours on the development; it’s great that local people can buy their own new homes in the town they love.”
Veterinary nurse Kate, carpenter Aaron and their sausage dog Roo are now settled into their new home and are enjoying seeing their new community coming together.
“The whole development is really attractive with nice streets and everyone seems so friendly” said Kate.
“The Wain Homes team have also looked after us so well; the sales executive, Karen, has been lovely and always kept us posted and up-to-date on everything, making the purchase go smoothly and stress-free.
“And the site team have been helpful and always there for us, coming straight round if we had any questions; they’re all nice people and very efficient.”
And plans for the future? “Well, there’s plenty of room in this property so it wouldn’t be any problem to add to our family and stay in this home” says Kate. “In fact, we couldn’t see ourselves moving home again, we just love it!”
